Queensland-based niche market directories publisher, Product Innovation category of the 2008 Australian Business Awards for its publication, The Fundraising Directory.
According to managing director Mandy Stevens, Direct Digital was told it won the category because of the way the publication identified and filled an information vacuum that previously existed in the community sector.
‘We believe that our directory filled this gap in such a way that the cost burded rested entirely on suppliers and was completely taken away from community groups,” Ms Stevens said.
“The Fundraising Directory has been a great equaliser by providing comprehensive information to groups large and small.
“This has been of a particular benefit to regional and remote organisations who had previously been unaware of more fundraising options available to them,” she said.
Fundraising Directory was formed by Ms. Stevens and business partner, Helen Creswick in February 2006 to produce the Fundraising Directory and now published either online niche directories. The 2008 Fundraising Directory, supported by Microsoft, contains more than 400 suppliers of fundraising products and services.
“We are absolutely delighted that the Fundraising Directory has been honoured with this award. Achievements like this make our hard work and sacrifice worthwhile,” Ms Stevens said. The announcement of the award came not long after Ms Creswick’s sudden diagnosis of untreatable pancreatic cancer.
“On a personal note, the award is particularly welcome at this time as we struggle to cope with Helen’s diagnosis. It is a great testament to Helen, a pioneer within the fundraising industry, as well as to our strong partnership,” Ms Stevens said.
