Fete volunteers
14. Fete volunteers
Fete Volunteers are the lifeblood of events. They make them happen. This chapter provides proven tips on how to recruit and retain fete volunteers.
Fete days are huge. They use a virtual army of helpers. I’ve found that breaking down jobs into small, manageable tasks works best. When people realise it is only a small amount of work, for a short time, they are more receptive to joining in.
While all stalls will have their own volunteer roster, it’s a good idea toalso have ‘floaters’— people who can provide short-term additional help during busy periods, run off to get sausages or soft drinks if stocks run critically low or cover a volunteer wanting to watch their child’s performance.
