A Day in the Life of Tanya from Jolly Soles

Welcome to Tanya from Jolly Soles! We’re delighted to have this opportunity to get to know you and your business better!

Please give us a brief description of your product
Jolly Soles sells carry boxes of funky socks as fundraising tools. Our aim is to be a fundraiser for any age and any cause. We offer a fun, quality, affordable, sugar free product that we all use while still providing great profits back to the fundraiser.

What made you get into this business?
About 3 and a half years ago, I received so quite a lot of fundraisers from my children’s sports & schools. We doubled up on a few of the items and I just thought, this is crazy, I’m about to spend hundreds of dollars on products we don’t need. But I’m also the treasurer of my netball team so I realise how important fundraising is to clubs, it’s vital to keep them running.
My aim was to use a product that families already need to buy.

What’s the first thing you do when you start your workday at Jolly Soles
Always emails!!

If volunteers were to phone in asking for advice on how to run a fundraiser, what is the number one thing you would tell them?
I always ask how they are planning on selling the socks. Are they asking families to take a box home, are they selling them at a weekend market stall or a crazy sock day at school? This will really determine what sizes to purchase & how much they may be able to sell them for and in turn how much profit they will make. Our sock boxes are customisable so we can really tailor the order to suit each fundraiser’s needs.

What do you enjoy most about working with the community?
In the beginning, the business began because I wanted a fundraising product that families needed to buy anyway and asking them to buy extra. But I have received so much enjoyment from working with volunteers in so many different organisations. I’ve met the strongest of families who have built foundations as a legacy for their child who has passed, the most enthusiastic volunteers raising money for their schools & sports clubs. I am constantly blown away the good in people. I like to share their stories and will give any fundraiser a shout out – they all deserve it!

What is your vision for the future of Jolly Soles
We would love to expand our range, keep coming up with fun designs that people love. As we’re growing, we’re now able to start to create more themed designs – ie Music themed socks for the bands & choirs and Leopard & Paw Prints which are perfect for the animal rescue groups and animal lovers.
